This is one of those evenings where I finish up and think, “Oh, great. I made a thing.” The flatness of affect has to be experienced to be believed. So, here’s a thing. Thing thing thing.
Saw oh so many of those very French stripy t-shirts in Paris. Go figure. As they blurred and seethed before my eyes I realised I wanted to make this particular animation.
We were watching The Prestige recently, where it is possible this particular image came from. Also, I wrote a poem called “my hand is the same on both sides” – that’s the whole poem. Take it with you, enjoy it in private.
I had a couple of my minutes of fame at a movie theatre in Kolkata when I projected my hand as a puppet onto the screen with an LED keyring during a power cut. There was laughter and applause.
In a fit of overdone self-esteem I made this Flash animation about how great this website is. Are you convinced yet?
I became enraged briefly with David Shrigley because he appears to have stolen all of the territory for doing quirky little throw-away jokes as ‘art’. Curse him!
I love the work at YOUNG HAE CHANG HEAVY INDUSTRIES PRESENTS and would be happy just to be the person who does it. But I’m not, so I just had to copy them.
A long time ago I saw a ribbon twined in a fence on Tasman street in Wellington, New Zealand that said “I will call u.” It seems so poignant and I wanted to invent a back-story for it.
A text from my “morning pages” notebook. It had some quite nice ranting qualities and so I wanted to pair it with someone shouting from a soapbox. And I was the only one around to take the job on.
