Like A Bird, On The Fence

This one’s straight out of the poetry vault. Thank goodness for poetry, without which I would have nothing so poignant as this abuse of our small avian friends to communicate to the world.

Box O’ Birds

When you’re right, you’re right. And this time I’m definitely right. I think you’ll agree with me here. Comedy gold. And not the first thing I’ve drawn about dead birds, creepily enough.

Put Your House In Order

The stalwart comics standby: a familiar metaphor seized upon and over-extended. I was super excited to use the word “parallelogram” in a comic, though it was in a tooth-and-nail fight with “trapezoid” for a while there.

Dead Duck.

You see ducks with their heads underwater for whatever reason and you think, just briefly, “what if that duck drowned under suspicious circumstances?” You look around for mafia ducks, but they’re all waddling away.

Dry the Heron

I kind of drew this one “by mistake” while I was just sitting around thinking about how to draw herons for the other day’s comic about herons. There could be an amazing subtext to this I’m not aware of.

I Said To The Heron

Another drunkenness comic to while away the evening with. I personally love herons and find them to be excellent companions, but this guy is slightly intimidated by them in his drunken state.

Birds Talk Art

Appearing due to popular demand is this comic where birds have a clichéd conversation about art. I’m mostly into it for the attempt to do bird-appropriate speech balloons and the work with a photographic background.

That Bird Has No Ideas

I continue to try and find some kind of zennish ground in these combination drawing-poems. Maybe not even poems, maybe I inch closer to my long-term goal of becoming a professional aphorist. Or perhaps just an aphid, for now.

Hunt and Peck

Idea cooked up with Rilla (and probably already done somewhere). And yes, birds do have special software that allows them to capitalise the ‘I’ without using the shift key – otherwise it would be even harder on them.

Two Pigeons Get Locked Out of Their Apartment.

This one took a while to do. It comes from a story Rilla and I told each other about a couple of wood pigeons we saw sitting in the front yard of an apartment near our place. We assumed they were locked out.
