This one came from observing an older couple shuffling along through the Rideau Centre mall in Ottawa. I took a bunch of source photos and then came up with the kind of conversation they might be having.
I drew all the remote controls I could find at Rilla’s house one day while sitting on the couch. Then I drew panels around them and called it a comic. Hey, presto!
I made a video in order to capture myself in awkward positions which I could then draw, but the resolution was too crap. The fact Rilla never saw me from the kitchen was kind of great though.
The age-old challenge of trying to take a photo of reality. Doubtless failed again, but at least I tried it out.
Sometimes I get so obsessed with drawing some kind of comic to keep momentum that I just make one about nothing at all. Like this one.
An old woman at the Rita Angus retirement village. Kind of a stealth photograph, to be honest. It actually has audio, too, but it’s a little on the quiet side.
